I remember we used to do something similar at my old job, and it wasn't just the new guys who learned, sometimes the old-timers were just as interested in what was going on, sometimes to learn, sometimes just to refresh their knowledge

Not only that, but you can explain something to 2-3 people at once, instead of having them each come to you at different times asking the same questions

Another added benefit to this is that sometimes, when the new kid asks me something, I have to answer quickly because I'm dealing with my own deadlines. This gives me time to explain some of the tricks which he'd otherwise have to learn on his own
